Pay Converter: Hourly, Monthly and Yearly Pay

Convert any hourly rate, monthly pay or salary into every other pay period, with the FICA deduction worked out exactly

Enter any amount in the converter above — an hourly rate, a monthly figure or an annual salary — and it returns every pay period at once. It uses the standard full-time basis of 40 hours a week for 52 weeks, 2,080 paid hours a year, and lets you change both numbers if your job is part-time or has unpaid weeks.

How the conversion works

Hourly to yearly multiplies by 2,080. Yearly to hourly divides by 2,080. Monthly to hourly multiplies by 12 first, then divides by 2,080. The only place this goes wrong is the assumption underneath it: 2,080 hours assumes every one of the 52 weeks is paid. Salaried roles usually are. An hourly job with two unpaid weeks is 2,000 hours, so the same rate pays about 4% less over the year.

Biweekly and twice-monthly are different numbers

Being paid every two weeks means 26 paychecks a year. Being paid on the 15th and the last day of the month means 24. On the same salary the biweekly paycheck is smaller, and twice a year three of them land in one month. That third paycheck is not a bonus — it is part of the same annual pay arriving early in the calendar — and budgeting as if every month had three is a common way to come up short.

Before you use these numbers in a negotiation

Every figure here is gross pay. Two jobs paying the same gross can leave very different amounts in your account once state tax, health premiums, retirement matching and commute costs are in. A self-employed version of the same work is not comparable at all, because you pay both halves of FICA and fund your own time off — the freelance rate and contractor-versus-employee calculators exist for exactly that comparison.

Other ways to be paid

Day rates, weekly pay and part-time hours each have their own converter.

After tax, raises and overtime

Every figure on the pay pages is gross pay. These tools start from the same number and work out what you keep in 2026, what a raise adds and what overtime pays.

Frequently asked questions

How do you convert a salary to an hourly rate?

Divide by 2,080. $50,000 a year is $24.04 an hour, $60,000 is $28.85, and $100,000 is $48.08. If your real week is 45 or 50 hours, divide by those hours instead.

Why is 2,080 hours the standard?

It is 40 hours a week times 52 weeks, with paid holiday and paid time off counted as worked hours. Payroll systems and job listings almost all use it.

Do these figures include tax?

No. Every figure is gross pay. The converter works out the employee FICA share exactly — 7.65% of wages — but income tax depends on your state, filing status and deductions.

Is the monthly figure the same as my paycheck?

Only if you are paid monthly. Divide the annual figure by 12 for a monthly paycheck, 24 for twice a month, and 26 for every two weeks. On $52,000 those come to $4,333.33, $2,166.67 and $2,000.
